Connecting Gender and Leadership

A Leadership Development Series

This one and an half day course has been designed to address one of the critical issues facing organizations in the 21st century: gender and leadership. To achieve breakthrough results, organizations must find innovative ways to blend the best of the male and female leadership behaviors, values and traits; this is the essence of the Hybrid Leader. Research shows that today's workforce no longer responds to the "traditional" leadership model. Today's leaders have to be more open, inclusive and collaborative. In fact, the "top down" leadership mentality has been replaced with a coaching/mentoring and teaching mentality. This is the only way to harness the greatness the of the most diverse workforce in history.

Leadership Strategies: Drawing on the Brain Styles Inventory and the book The Hybrid Leader, focus is placed on guiding each participant through a self-analysis of their current leadership behaviors and patterns. The findings from this assessment lay the foundation for identification of those behaviors that result from hard work, it also addresses the critical behavioral changes that are needed to become an effective leader in the 21st century.

Workforce Trends: A structured overview of the workforce trends that have occurred during the last ten years as well as a close examination of future trends is emphasized in this segment of the workshop. Understanding the impact that these trends will have on an organization's ability to get better results is compelling. In fact, the data is so powerful that it serves as a catalyst for leaders to make the paradigm shifts needed to connect with today's workforce.

Blending Leadership Styles: This segment of the workshop builds on the insights gained in the leadership style assessment and understanding of the workforce trends. Case studies, experiential exercises and real life business scenarios provide the opportunity for testing new behaviors, in a safe environment, that represent a blending of the male and female leadership styles.
