Breaking Down the Silos

Breeding Integrated Cross Functional Stretchpoint Teams – A Performance Development Program

This two-day course has been designed to address the need to improve overall effectiveness by connecting various disciplines throughout the organization. Today's organizations contain pockets of excellence that are isolated and buried due to cost cutting and economic pressures. Harnessing the excellence to a level where it positively impacts the entire enterprise requires a commitment and plan to break down the silos. It also requires strong leaders capable of leading this type of organizational change. This program will address the steps needed to create communities of best practices that leverage individual strengths, encourage risk taking, and "real time learning" to accelerate the business results.

Leadership Strategies: Supported by pre-program organizational assessments, participants examine the leadership role in identifying opportunities for strategic alliances throughout the organization. Participants receive the skills needed to effectively lead this type of organizational change.

Stretchpoint Team Development: Participants are provided with insight on the need to adopt a mindset and behavior that demonstrates a belief in the notion that 'no one of us is smarter that all of us.' A five-step team development process guides the learning.

Performance Connectivity: A case study exercise provides the opportunity for participants to learn to build cross functional partnerships, collaborate on concepts and practices that breed innovation and reveal opportunities for efficiency gains.

Best Practice/Process Improvement: Building on the learning from the case study, the team identifies best practices to enhance data exchange, interdepartmental communication and scorecard connections. The focus in this area includes identification of current areas where silo activities are resulting in duplication of effort, missed opportunities, and reduced profitability. With the analysis complete, participants can develop an action plan to overcome the stumbling blocks for improvement and build a roadmap to break down the silos.
